Vidar – Large-format Pellet 3D Printer
Large parts. Direct pellets. Local control.
Bring your next big idea into the workshop. Vidar is the standard large-format pellet 3D printer from Hjort Creations, combining an 800 × 800 × 970 mm build volume, Metexon MTX6 pellet extrusion and modern electronics in one machine.
Explore prototypes, tooling, fixtures and large-format parts with a machine that keeps control close at hand — on its own screen or through your local network.
More room for your application
Build size matters when your design grows beyond a desktop printer. Vidar gives you room to work with larger geometries and to explore how direct pellet printing fits your production workflow.
The MTX6 extrusion system processes pellets directly. We help you assess your part, material and nozzle choice, so the process is matched to the result you need.
Modern electronics. Responsive motion.
A Raspberry Pi 4, a modern 32-bit Octopus MAX EZ controller and 5160 motor drivers form the control system inside Vidar. Computing, motion control and the user interface are integrated into the machine.
With maximum machine speed up to 400 mm/s and acceleration up to 10,000 mm/s², Vidar combines a large working envelope with modern motion capability.
Your workflow, on your own network
WiFi and Ethernet: choose wireless convenience or a wired network connection.
Local browser control: use Mainsail to work with the printer on your own network.
On-machine operation: HelixScreen provides the interface at the printer.
Independent operation: no external server or cloud connection is required. Vidar can be used offline.
Software at a glance: Kalico firmware · Mainsail browser interface · HelixScreen on-machine interface.
